Hi GEA People,
The traditional visit to the Jazz Beergarden at Gross-Hesselohe
is tomorrow, 1st May.
Cyclists:
depart 13:00 from usual place, under ship's screw (propeller)
on Ludwigsbruecke north (downstream) of Deutsches Museum
arrive at near garden before 14:00.
Non Cyclists:
Waldwirtschaft', Georg-Kalb-Allee, GrossHesselohe
http://www.waldwirtschaft.de
http://www.berklix.org/bg/#waldwirtschaft
S-Bahn 7, I suggest take the 13:15, arriving 13:31 then walk.
Print a map http://www.berklix.org/maps/, use a GPS, or ask on
unmoderated list gea-members@@@berklix.org who to walk with.
Bad Weather ? http://www.berklix.org/weather/
Not much chance of rain, but if too cool, we may go inside.
If it rains really hard in Munich shortly after 12:00,
cyclists will likely not leave home for the 13:00 start point,
but if later they'll already be on route. Play it by ear.
My Mobile 0175 1096138, No SMS, No answers while cycling. (Paul 015771494673).
Those of your friends who only read the monthly programme or the

WARNING - Changed Times For Thursday 22nd Jazz Beer garden, Cycle & S Bahn.
Here's a condensed version of what I posted, Monday 22:00
To: gea-announce@berklix.or + Cc: alexandra@
Hi all GEA & Beer gardeners,
Alexandra phoned me, we've agreed to both change times:
Meet Alexandra 13:15 (Not 14:15) at S Bahn. to Walk.
Meet at the S7 station Grosshesselohe-Isartal for the
short walk to the Wirtschaft. Alexandra - or
alexandra@
Meet Julian 13:15 (Not 12:15) at Ship's propeller to Cycle.
(Meet under ship's screw on Ludwigsbruecke north (downstream)
of Deutsches Museum. If weather is bad phone or
mail jhs@ ), At beer garden I will turn on my
mobile . No SMS, & no phoning while cycling.
( Some individuals also cycling longer distance from eg
Starnberg & Germering etc ).
Both groups arrive to meet in Beer garden about 14:00 (Mot 15:00),
'Waldwirtschaft', Georg-Kalb-Allee, GrossHesselohe
You can bring a snack. http://www.waldwirtschaft.de/
http://www.berklix.org/bg/#waldwirtschaft
Look for Alexandra, Julian, Sue, & about 40 or 50 others as normal,
toward far end, where not so noisey, & more seats free.
(Hope for good weather but even in poor, some show up :-)
Please tell friends so no one remains unaware of change.
REPEAT Programme Is Wrong: Meet either group at 13:15.
-------
Organiser Question: Where shall I sit - same as last year?
Same as every year ;-) Near far end, more space. Don't need last
tables next to troublesome kids & their play area, leave them to
the young parents. We just need a a chance of enough adjacent
seats. if weather not good, & music not too loud, maybe a bit
nearer band ? Inside with a hot coffee if rain is tearing down ;-)
(Once cyclists are under way if weather then turns nasty, we press on regardless.)
2004
Detail for 2004. (We did much the same again in 2005.)
GEA people,
1st May:
Cyclists:
Meet at 12:30 underneath the giant black ship's propeller near
Imax on Ludwigs Brucke, to cycle to the Jazz beergarten @ Gross
Hesselohe. If the weather's awful forget it, but if it's marginal
we'll still do it, & sit inside @ Gross Hesselohe. It's usually
a great day out.
It's maybe 30/ 40 mins cycle, yes we could do it faster, but
there's always something slowing us, sometimes our group, sometimes
just a busy cycle path, & trying, only sometimes successfully, to
avoid losing anyone. Owners of 3 gear clunkers (city rad) should
meet (each other but not rest of us) at 12:00 under the propeller
& make an early start on their own, at their own slow speed.
Don't expect to cycle with 12:30 majority though please.
Cycling back at end of day is each at their own departure time &
speed, just reversing the route, downstream instead of up. Some
people occasionally have a crisis with that, if you'r one of 'em,
bring a map, you won't have a guide to get back :-) On return,
beware the hill down to river, walk it, brakes can & have failed.
Pedestrians:
Go direct via S-Bahn. As nobody's contacted me to be a replacement
for Alix as focal point, we cyclists will be the focal group for
pedestrians/ S-Bahn people to look for.
Someone who goes by train can post S Bahn info & walking directions
here, (as I always go by bike, I'd just risk getting it wrong :-)
Car Park:
Yes there is one. Usually it's full that day. It's not free.
Yes they do have alkoholfrei bier, I think. Won't swear to it.
Location:
End of Georg Kalb Str (I believe), so
http://www.stadtplandienst.de/fastlink.asp?key=6429f241abf6a5aa44501843042bc193
Note the above map ref expires 48 hrs from now, ie Fri 23:27, so do not
wait till Sat morning before looking for first time at the map !
It'd be nice if some people planning to go drop me a one liner private mail
to jhs@........... so's I have some idea who's going by bike & S-Bahn
My mobile: ............
I don't use it while cycling, I don't stop to answer calls, & I
don't type SMSs - ever. Feel free to SMS me, just don't expect
any reply (SMS or phone call). It will be on in beer garden, if
I remember.
